Terms of service
Last updated: Fri, Oct 30, 2026
Welcome to Bottle Rally (www.bottlerally.com). These terms are the agreement between you and Bottle Rally for using the site. By creating an account or using Bottle Rally, you accept them. Please also read our privacy policy, which explains how we handle personal information.
What Bottle Rally does
Bottle Rally is a free tool that helps youth groups run bottle drives. Organizers plan a Bottle Rally and its collection zones, participants choose a zone to collect in, and neighbours offer their empty bottles and cans. Bottle Rally only puts people in touch: we don’t collect bottles, return containers, or handle any money. Each Bottle Rally is run by its organizer and group, not by us.
Your account
- Accounts are for adults: coaches, parents, group leaders and donors. You must be at least 18, or at least 14 with the permission of a parent or guardian. Young people who collect bottles with their group can take part through their organizer or a parent’s or guardian’s account.
- Give your real name and an email address that’s yours, and keep them up to date.
- Keep your password and your sign-in accounts secure. You’re responsible for what happens on your account. If you think someone else is using it, change your password and tell us.
- One person per account. Don’t sign up for someone else or pretend to be someone you’re not.
If you organize a Bottle Rally
- Organize only for a real group you’re part of or allowed to act for, and describe its cause honestly. The money raised must go to the purpose you describe.
- Only invite participants who expect to hear from your group, and share the rally’s join link only with your group. Use participants’ and donors’ information (names, email addresses, addresses) only for your Bottle Rally.
- You’re responsible for the safety of your collectors. Make sure young people are supervised as your group’s rules require, choose safe collection zones, and plan pickups that suit the people involved.
- Follow the rules that apply where you collect, such as municipal rules on door-to-door canvassing or fundraising, and the rules of the depot or retailer where you return the containers.
- Keep the rally up to date: if the date, time or place changes, or the rally is cancelled, update it on Bottle Rally so participants and donors are told.
If you offer bottles
- Offer only containers that are yours to give. Once collected, they belong to the group.
- Give an accurate idea of how much you have, and let the organizer know if your plans change, or cancel your offer.
- For a pickup, leave the bottles somewhere safe and accessible, and only share the address details the organizer needs.
Meeting other people
Bottle Rally doesn’t check the identity or background of its users. Use good judgment when you arrange pickups and drop-offs: meet in places you’re comfortable with, and make sure children aren’t alone with adults they don’t know. If someone behaves badly, tell us.
What you can’t do
- Post anything offensive, hateful, threatening, harassing, sexual or illegal, or that targets other people.
- Use Bottle Rally to advertise, send spam, or collect people’s information for anything other than a Bottle Rally.
- Post other people’s personal information beyond what a Bottle Rally needs.
- Set up fake rallies or fake donations, or mislead people about a group or a cause.
- Try to get into accounts or parts of the site you’re not allowed in, disrupt the site, or collect data from it with automated tools.
What you post
You keep ownership of what you add to Bottle Rally: rally details, zone maps, messages and the like. You allow us to store it, display it to the people it’s meant for (see “Who can see what” in the privacy policy), and send it in emails and notifications, only to run Bottle Rally. You’re responsible for what you post and confirm you have the right to post it.
We may refuse or remove content that breaks these terms. The site automatically refuses some offensive words.
Suspending or closing accounts
You can ask us to close your account at any time by writing to privacy@bottlerally.com. We may suspend or close an account, or unpublish a Bottle Rally, if it breaks these terms or puts people at risk. When we can, we’ll tell you why first, and you can reply to us.
The service
Bottle Rally is free. We work to keep it running and accurate, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors, and we may change or stop features. If we ever plan to shut Bottle Rally down, we’ll give notice so organizers can wrap up their rallies.
Responsibility
Bottle Rallies, collections, pickups and drop-offs are arranged between organizers, participants and donors, and we aren’t a party to them. To the extent the law allows, Bottle Rally isn’t responsible for what users do or post, for how a Bottle Rally is run, or for how much money it raises. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can’t be waived, including Quebec’s Consumer Protection Act, or our responsibility for our own fault or gross negligence.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we’ll update the date at the top. For important changes, we’ll tell you by email or on the site at least 30 days before they take effect. If you don’t agree with the changes, you can close your account.
Applicable law
Bottle Rally is based in Alberta. These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If you live elsewhere, you keep the protections of the consumer protection laws where you live, such as Quebec’s Consumer Protection Act.
